A Red-Letter Bird Sighting
Seen outside Willcox, Arizona on Sunday, March 8th. We went to see the sandhill cranes arrive for their midday siesta, and there was this lovely little vermilion flycatcher!

Photo Series: Cow and Calf in Yard
I know. The calf is nowhere in sight. Now look closely at the next image.
Still not a very good look, but he's there, resting in the weeds. You can see how windy it is by the way the cow's ear is blown upward.
When mom wanders off, baby is distraught,
but soon they are happily and peacefully reunited.
This is one of the things I absolutely love about being in Dos Cabezas: our sweet bovine neighbors and their visits!

Dust Storm -- Overland From the Playa
In the Midwest, the weather news has been snow, ice, and cold. Here in the Southwest, it's been wind.
We could see the dust in the distance from about 20 miles away. As we drove closer, the storm naturally appeared larger.
We were in the clear in Willcox, but driving from there to Dos Cabezas we were heading right into the storm. We could not even see our mountains in any direction.
And then, happily, before Dos Cabezas, we came out the other side.

Yes, It SNOWED Here!
I know, I know -- it's nothing like Michigan. Still, it was the coldest day we have had here this winter, and a 2-mile walk turned my ungloved hands to icicles!
