A Red-Letter Bird Sighting
Seen outside Willcox, Arizona on Sunday, March 8th. We went to see the sandhill cranes arrive for their midday siesta, and there was this lovely little vermilion flycatcher!
My first thought was cardinal, but a closer look proved me wrong. That was exciting. Identifying the bird as a vermilion flycatcher was even more exciting. Now I see that bird is called "rare" in the Willcox area, and I can hardly believe my good fortune.

Beautiful bird and image. My first take was that it was a cardinal, but on a closer look, I can see it's not.
