A Season in Transition

The snow is gone! My hellebore is free from ice and can get on with its spring blooming. It only took me four days to remember the name of this favorite spring plant in my garden, but I'm happy that I did remember at last. I only have one of these plants, and every spring I think I should get more.

Spring is coming to the woods, too. No wild leeks yet, but the sun is reaching in to warm the ground.

The orchards, too, are preparing to awake. How gloriously lovely they are in the long, late, slanting light of an early spring evening!

Sun going down, moon high in the sky. What an antidote to the "news"!

Morning Mist, North Lake Leelanau

Morning brought mild air.
Under a clearing sky,
land and water exhaled softly.

Only the day before,
the lake offered different scenes.
