What crops do they plant in that area? Out this way is the edge of the wheat country, which rotates with legumes. We have a huge lentil crop (even a lentil festival), but I cannot imagine where they all go.
Not as many field crops in our area as orchards, so these fields are exceptions. I'll have to watch the striped fields to see what comes up there. The bottom one was field corn last year. (You can see the broken stalks in the filled earth.) Where I grew up, the year after corn would be soybeans, but we'll see what happens here. Oh, and fields are generally small here, too.
